usually loose connection, moisture in h.t motor winding and weak meggering result of h.t cable in which i.e earth to phase and phase to phase meggering result

There are many factors that affect the starting current of 3P,IM few among those are:

i)Starting method Direct on Line or Star/Delta

For a Star Connected motor starting current is higher.

ii)Nature of load i.e pump,compressor, fan etc

For fan and compressor loads the starting current will be higher.

Oh! Please come again! "For a satr connected motor, starting current will be higher". That is quite contradictory to what I have been believing & practising for all of 30 years now.

Are you suggesting star-delta starter for a HT Motor? Haven' you read the question? It is on HT Motors.

Nature of the load does not influence the magnitude of the starting current. It only influences the starting time. Pl. be careful while answering questions in aforum.

Starting current of a motor is always the charecreristic of the given motor and it depends upon the motor impedances (both stator impedance & rotor impedance ) and the slip of the motor.
