Here's a shot in the dark, since we have no way of knowing the year and model...

"The problem is the tilt sensor on the motor. replace it and take it to a mechanic or your dealer to get the ecu reprogrammed and you will be in business. i changed the sensor myself with the bike on my trailer. and then carried it to my buddys to reprogram the ecu. jst make sure the ecu has been reprogrammed before you start the bike or you will have the same problem with the new one. "

I once had an 86 Walters with an Allison HT750DRD transmission that had a bad engine mount. Every time the engine would shift, the cover for the transmission governor would hit one of the water pumps. Eventually it would dent the cover sufficiently to damage the spinning weights of the governor. Then it would be stuck in either first, or second. But at least mine would start. It may be a long shot, but WTH.

Thanks for your reply. In the meantime I was given some info from a man who deals with quads and he said that there is a 'button'under the gearbox and that there is a tool available for turning this. I managed to obtain one and with the help of a friend we managed to turn it through all the gears until we got to neutral. I then just pressed the start button and 'magic there was a satisfying roar Thanks to everybody for the help offered.
