Weld Quality Factor (E)

02/04/2012 11:33 AM

Hi All,

Would any of you be kind enough to confirm me following.

If material of the pipe is A358 TP 321 Class 2 EFW

A358 Specifications Quote

"1.3.2 Class 2-Pipe shall be double welded by processes
employing filler metal in all passes. No radiography is required."

Then

For Piping Stress Analysis (B31.3)

Long. Weld Quality Factor (E) = ?

I am taking 0.7.

Is that right?

Regards,

Tabby

I guess Weld Joint Factor E, depends on type of Examination, i.e. Spot Radiographed, Full Radiographed, etc.

as per Table No. 302.3.4 in ASME B 31.3

By referring to B31.1 Appendix A Table A-1B, I suppose you can take EJ = 0.85
