Human Exoskeletons

05/06/2007 3:12 AM

The military and other companies have been doing extensive research into different applications and designs of human exoskeletons to enhance human performance in a variety of settings/situations. I know that the most scientifically ground-breaking research is being done by fabricating materials using nanotechnology. I've seen and researched a ton of different stuff as well, like the "hard-on-impact liquid body suite material," like the d3o used by spyder for the u.s. and canadian ski teams.

Has anybody else been following such research and if so would you mind enlightening me on your findings? Thank you.

Lol. It would seem that's the Military's plan for the future. I just think the research they're doing is friggin awesome. I can already see people with too much money who go and lose their minds running around in these stolen military exoskeletons in the future.

Wikipedia is great.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exoskeleton starts with ants.

Then there is http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Powered_exoskeleton which starts with medieval armor and goes direct into current developments.. You are probably most interested in the outside citations at the end.
