What does your local wiring code say? You ARE working to the appropriate national standard, aren't you?

not really specified in national standard. It is more for easier future maintenance.

That's what "as built" drawings are for.

First make a schedule of numbering/identification for all of your Earthpits including, communication, main earth and Lightning protection. Give some abbreviation such as EP for main eath, LP for lightning protection etc...Then please fix the identification label on the Earth pits..

Your term "earthing pit" leads me to assume that you are talking about one of these or something similar:

If so, why not stamp the cover with the type of ground system and location (in case covers get mixed up)?

Top of rod can also be stamped with a small 3 digit code (after installation of course) that can incorporated onto the as-builts.

You can also color code each system with a quality industrial paint or epoxy but re-coating will be required periodically.

KJK, in my case we are using concrete pit. Well, painting is easier one but of course need re-coating over time.

Is there any other type of labelling sell in the market or had been used in your country or anywhere in the world.

Tq.

Let me put this, this way around, what we have done in that situation, our drawings were pretty much clear about

Electrical Earth pit - Dirty earth/Power Earth (PE).

Telecommunication Earth Pit - Intrinsically safe Earth pit (IS)

Lighting load earth pit- Non Intrinsically safe Earth pit (NIS)

So, we have three systems PE,IS,NIS

Eventually, all circuit will be routed to ground only, this arrangement help us to direct lighting strokes, surge, transient to ground directly without routed to another system.

For this we have separate earth bar for each system, and that is the real headache in the big industry/refinery/oil and gas stations if we are working on existing system.
