But someone told me ...
a) If you are really concerned I suggest you read the manual which doubtless came with booster and check it meets all relevant legislation.
There are regulations for this stuff.
Of course you could spend a fortune and get it tested at an independent test house, to see if it complies. Of course this wouldn't prove a thing as it may still interfere with things which don't meet the relevant immunity spec's or define failure in terms of catastrophic failure rather than mere interferrence.

b) Yeah and someone told me that Father Christmas cames down the chimney.
I suggest you worry about problems which manifest themselves rather than ones which have been concocted at random by others.
If you have no real problems to worry about, I'm sure the third world has an ample supply which could occupy you.

Got a headache Del? No need to beat up the newbies, just throw them in the pool. Yes, I'm a little tired of the cellphonecondriacs, too. Cheers.

I tried to get the information vs humour vs sarcasm balance within acceptable limits.
(I toned it down considerably from the first edit).

Someone told me that I'd be rich someday.

I don't believe them, either.

I have one in my home because I live in a remote location. I have mine mounted on top of the kitchen cabinets out of sight.

There are different power units available. If yours is for a 1500 square foot home, no worries. If yours is for a 5000 square foot home, mount it near the ceiling. If it is for a larger home or commercial building, mount it in the attic.

Incidentally, I improved my signal dramatically by ditching the antenna provided, and replacing it with a yagi. If you do this, make sure it covers all bands you require.

Good posts on this -- particularly #3 about the Yagi.

But to answer your question -- yes, it can cause interference to other cellular devices operating on that frequency. The fact is that cell phones themselves cause interference with other cell phones. Your booster does just that much more.

The only concern you should have is with the terms and conditions of your agreement for cellular service. Most carriers will have something in there about devices that cause too much interference -- to the point that it adversely affects other users. The carrier probably reserves the right to refuse service to those "rogue" devices.

The amount of radiation and concern for your health is a separate issue. Depending on where you mount the antenna, it should not be a problem. The instructions or manual that came with the booster should give guidance on that topic.

It's not going to interfere any more than your current cell phone interferes with another cell phone when you are calling right next to each other or walking down a busy metropolitan street with literally thousands of signals in the same spectrum.

Cell phones are designed to share channels and carriers...the system is designed...nay...engineered that way.

It may not interfere more, but it certainly has the potential to interfere more. Most cell phones transmit at 300 mW, whereas most boosters transmit at 3 W. Depending on where and how it is used, it MAY not interfere more, but it certainly could, which is why the carriers don't usually promote them or put a caveat in the terms and conditions about them.

You are correct about the way networks are engineered, but in this case the issue is not multiple users, rather it is simply how much power a given user is radiating,
