Allen Bradley FTV Display Problem

04/04/2012 12:49 PM

Need some help for Factory Talk View Display Error

In my water treatment plant computer i am using FTV to operate the whole plant.

Suddenly on the few display(graphics) command buttons, timers box, etc.. are showing error text in Blue Colored Box (Instead of either Green or Red). But in the another computer which also have the same setup working normal.

I saw TAG NOT FOUND alarm in alarm window of FTV. So how can i retrieve this missing tags on this computer.

What can be the problem ?

Go to the PLC and see if the RUN light on the CPU is lit, also check your communications cable.

Regards

CPU is working fine. Because my 2nd workstation is working normal.

But in this workstation even i can not see "Online" folder in Tag Browser.

Is there any communication problem? and how can i troubleshoot it.?

If you have recently downloaded to the terminal, then you probably accidentally cleared the communications path in RSLinx Enterprise.

Do the following:

  1. Open your project in FactoryTalkView
  2. Double-click on RSLinx Enterprise in the project window
  3. Locate the PLC in the browser and click on it to establish an offline connection
  4. Click "Copy from Design Time to Run Time" in the upper right-hand corner
  5. Create a .mer and download it to the panelview
  6. A box will pop-up during the download process that says, "Replace communications?" - click "Yes."

Replace the word "panelview" with "terminal" in the directions.

"Actually i dont want to contact AB for this issue."

Methinks the OP hath possession of a surreptitious copy of Factory Talk and doth not want the scrutiny of those prying eyes of the company that was ripped off, hence they insist on being paid for their Intellectual Property..

Actually as far as i know this is not a big problem and that's why i don't want to call AB guys. we are having 10 Year AMC with Rockwell Automation.

Thanks for your compliments.

I want comments from those who can give me the technical solutions not commercial solutions.

If you have an Annual Maintenance Contract with Rockwell, this is EXACTLY what that is about! I still fail to see why you would not want to call them...

The problem with us giving advice over an anonymous forum is that we are not there to see ALL of the possible issues involved and people have nothing to lose by giving you bad advice that may cause further irreparable damage. I work for Rockwell, I will not touch this from afar. Yes, it is likely no big deal, but you don't KNOW that, and sometimes little glitches like this are early warning signs of other impending disasters or hacks or virus/worm attacks. Something like this NEEDS a person who knows the system and can troubleshoot it on-site. THAT is why you were smart to get an AMC. Now USE it!
