Engineering Positions in Australia

I live in the United States but I am looking to emigrate to either Queensland or New South Wales, Australia at some point in the near future. Myself along with my two children.

I have a great deal of experience in both software engineering and electrical engineering but, sadly, I am non-degreed (even so, I have two years' of uni education, but it is dated [BsEE work, early 1980s]). I would like to finish my engineering degree at an Australian university at some point. First, though, I need to get there and be gainfully employed in short order. I've gotten rather used to eating, you see. So have my kids.

To CR4's Australian members: how does one go about looking for engineering work in Australia? Do you favor any particular career websites? How is it done there, generally?

To CR4's Australian expatriates (however temporary): how do you look for work in your country from abroad?

And finally, are there any Americans on CR4 living and working in Australia? Better yet, Americans who've emigrated to the Lucky Country? How did you do it and how are you faring?
