major casting components are cylinder block, cylinder head, differential gearbox casing, oil sump casing, (this in some cases can be of pressed sheet metal),wheels now days are of aluminium alloy die cast, (otherwise are of pressed steel).

the castings can be of suitable cast irons or in aluminium alloys, or combination of both.

How many grains of sand can I hold in my hand?

Your question is the same as mine, unanswerable!

Every automobile model will have different castings in different materials.

Considering the number of different automobiles in the world this could add up to over 1,000,000, (one million,) different castings.

Most would be proprietorial to the manufacturer of each different automobile.

There is no central listing of castings and I doubt any Automobile Manufacturer would give you any information because they would think that you were going to make counterfeits of their products.

As a matter of fact that is what I think you want them for.

You asked "how can i get the list of all casting components used in an automobile specially car..."

Just a simple 5 part process:

1) Take an automobile specialty car

2) Open hood doors and trunk and using hand tools remove all trim, bumpers, plastics, rubber, sheet metal, fabric, non woven fabric components, wires, fasteners, glass and passenger amenities.

3) as you remove remaining parts, evaluate them critically to determine if their mass, section thickness, or evidence of parting lines or surface texture indicate that they were made by a casting process.

4) But all such parts in a single pile.

5) Make a list of all parts in the pile!

Before you think that this is a punk response, Let me assure you that this process is followed by the US Chrysler Techcenter folks in Michigan where they do this to a couple competitors vehicles every model year. They benchmark all possible parameters, fastener count, mass, metal thickness etc. at similar points on the competitors vehicle and their own. Then they work on the gap... BY the way, this process is run by their Accountants, not their engineers.

I've been through it several times.

Asking to be spoon fed competitive information is really unattractive, no matter where you are in the world.

Milo,

Do not forget that the Chinese are the absolute masters of this.

In the motorcycle and scooter market they have copies of Japanese scooters and bikes that are so good that the parts are interchangeable. How is that for making copies?

You of course are correct.

I saw very convincing copies of Honda cycles and also GM cars that were actually not made by either company.

GM sued but In the Chinese courts they hadn't a chance.

Personally, I am not afraid of low wage countries, nor low wage workers.

I am afraid of legal systems and incompetent bureaucrats and stooge lawyers that perpetuate the advantages of both.

I have good blood in my veins, and can do the math, and can think and communicate in English.

But most importantly, I am not afraid to do the work.

So sharing 'the obvious' (take one apart and list them,) seems to me to be nothing more than noblesse oblige...
