Harmonic 3 in Photovoltaic Application

04/23/2012 3:50 AM

Hi Expert or very confident people from the field.

I'd like to know if the DC to AC convertors used in Photovoltaic applications can generate third harmonic on the neutral of the AC network.

If yes what could be the level of that current in the neutral compare to the currents on the 3 phases ?

My application is an 250 kVA/400Vac solar farm.

Thanks and don't hesitate to give me only a prt of the answer I need the maximum details about that subject.

Any time the sine wave is less than perfect harmonics are generated. The quality of your converters has a direct impact on the quality of your sine wave and therefore power. More expensive converters have more steps and filtering of the output, cheaper ones don't.
