Force, Velocity and Accuracy Plate

04/23/2012 11:58 AM

Best way to make force, velocity and accuracy plate in handball goal? I have some ideas but some are not so easy to do. Any ideas for me?

The aim is to make a goal that can measure the speed and accuracy of a ball landing on it. A suggestion of implementation is to make straingauge based sensors and interface them to an Arduino board

Well the accuracy would be easy enough to measure with a field of sensors or high speed cameras....The force and speed will be a bit more difficult...The speed would have to be measured with radar I think, the force would have to be calculated according to weight of ball, speed with time of impact duration(deceleration to 0)...The force would be hard to measure because of ball angle of impact, among other things....

Or use 4 inexpensive chip for g force measurement. Since g is acceleration, deriving speed, force, accuracy (imbalance between the 4 chips on the 4 corners) is straightforward physics. Calibrate by dropping the ball onto it from various height. Assuming an exact 1g is good enough for your proiect.
