Bearing Creapage Preload of Bearing Wind Turbine

05/14/2012 2:50 AM

Dear members ,

we have problem with front bearing of wind turbine in india , after say 6 years it start creaping ie , bearing inner race start creap over its shaft . after doing root cause analysis it was found that bearing was not at sufficient preload , bearing number is 32044 . but i am in confussion whether preload is required ???? or is there any other cause for bearing creapage .

if preload is provided to this bearing is there any damage to bearing considering life of bearing ???

main shaft is supported by 2 bearing by back to back arrangement

Front bearing - 32044

Rear bearing - 807072 H

Additional info - Its a interference fit

variable and low speed

please suggest whether preloading will help me ??? or should i find another method to arrest creapage problem ????
