Harmonics Reading

Hello,

I could measure harmonics and saved in my computer with Fluke view scope meter 120..But i need to know how to analyze this screen..can anybody please help how can check if the power is okm with harmonics or not?

i don't know how to attach the screen saved in my computer to this thread...

To insert an image you click on the little green camera icon. Your image must be in a compatible format. I'm not sure where I read about that, but I usually use the bmp (bitmap) format. I think it will prompt you as you attempt to upload it.

As far as analysis goes, the usual concern is harmonic current. Voltage should ideally be unaffected by current. If the voltage is affected, it means that some of the supply is maxed out. It could mean that your main step-down transformer is fully loaded and there is no more room for the harmonic to be dissipated due to core saturation.

Some equipment is more sensitive than others with regard to the presence of harmonics. Typically you will not see issues until the percent of harmonic current (relative to the total current) exceeds 20%. If you have no symptoms, you generally don't have to worry about it. Odd harmonics can cause motors to run hotter, thereby reducing life. But to just measure the temperature may not tell you if things are currently good or bad. As with most things, you need a point of reference.
