Probes on Testo Diff. Manometers

06/25/2012 10:13 AM

Testo 425 flowmeter has a hot wire probe connected "permanently". Testo 435 has a hot wire probe being attached (an option sold separately). Does somebody know, in the case the probe fails on the Testo 425, should the whole instrument be thrown away or is it possible to connect to it somehow the hot wire probe intended for the testo 435 ?

I e-mailed them and a person from Testo kindly answered me (and I fully agree with him) :

"This cannot be done and would never be offered, in cases of a damaged 425 they would try to repair it if possible, but replacing the probe with a probe from a 435 would never be an option, mainly as the probes for the 435 are as expensive if not more expensive than the whole 425 instrument."

But what amuses me with Testo is the fact that there are also not-in-the-US-made tools sold 2-3 times cheaper. Thus, theoretically, a China-made probe for 435 meter could be considered, I believe, a priceworth substitude for a broken US-made 425 meter.
