Welding PP w/ Thermal Plates

06/29/2012 2:04 PM

Realized I was jumping into an old thread w/ a question. Sorry but we'll have to revisit the issue of welding PP with thermal weld plates. Have had them Teflon coated and have kept temp consistent at 445 deg/f. Failure rate seems low but they would love to see it lower. Sticking problems, teflon coming off the plates etc. Ceramic has been suggested and was wondering if anyone has tried this?

Try glass cloth that is impregnated with PTFE. You don't have to send your platens out to be coated.

It's what bag makers use.

I don't know if it will increase your yield, or not.

TkS Lyn I know at one time they were using the cloth, nobody can tell me when or why they changed to the coating. Have suggested we "try again"
