Valley Pivot Recommended Gear Box Oil-MIL-L2105C

07/01/2012 2:53 PM

Dear Members,

I repair and service Valley centre pivots here in Malawi, C. Africa. The service manual highly recommends to use Valmont gear lube oil with the following specification MIL-L2105C. The manufacturer has these part numbers for the different quantities: 2.5gallons part # 0996560; 5gallons part # 0996559; 16gallons part # 0996558; 55gallons part # 0996557. Valmont wo'nt sell me this oil because I am not a dealer but I am hands on the job and the dealers near me do not stock this oil. They use alternatives. Does anybody know anyone/a dealer who can sell me this oil and other centre pivot parts.

Thanks.

You might go here:Search GlobalSpec and search for <"MIL-L2105C" equivalents>.

Maybe your supplier could be asked for a "certification of equivalency".

Or maybe they have some oil with a C of C (certificate of compliance) to that Spec.

Here's a link to 2105D, which appears to supercede 2105C and have been superceded by 2105E, then MIL-PRF-2105, now SAE J2360:

Lubes that meet API GL-5 and API MT-1 appear to meet SAE J2360.

All of these have several viscosity grades.
