Going Green - Something to THINK about

07/01/2012 8:12 PM

Actually spend the "Green" on a Skystream 3.7. Most it produced is a little over 3183 kWh to date; over a three plus year period. My wind speed dropped by 2 MPH, my electricity delivery company keeps the voltage to high, according to Southwest Windpower. (The things one learns, the higher you go the slower the wind blows, must be the thin air.)

They were super and replaced the original turbine twice even added a "Skylevel" free of charge that did not work and does not come with a warranty since the original equipment did not have one. Sure hoped that this Skystream 3.7 would help out with the environment, keep jobs here..., actually it does. Noticed some birds resting 50' up on the turbine.

With such a low average wind speed why would you buy a wind turbine? Maybe you could find somebody to trade for a solar system, or are you in a perpetual overcast as well?

The turbine buyer checked the wind speed average for 2 years at a lower elevation and came up with an at least 10 MPH wind average, no not scientifically, intermittently, but using an anemometer. It is irrelevant because a turbine company with faulty anemometer support equipment came up with lower windspeeds at 40' higher elevation, that way low output can be justified. Each one of the turbines was able to produce between 20 to 30 kWh on ONE occasion for each turbine (24 hour period), maybe that is why each one was replaced? There are at least 6 additional turbines in the area, production? but they do turn, this one turns best when it does not have to catch the wind.( Desk jockey's say the tower is level, it is as level as the Skylevel included in the last turbine issued is non operational. It was FREE.) Companies claims are great also. Solar is probably better in Italy than Texas.

14% more turbines - 4% more carbon dioxide.

Long live the green brigade with their polluting machines.

Seriously green is good but many lies are told of a windmills abilities.

A good windmill is one with flames coming out of it.

You are right, many lies are told and many ethics bite the dust.
