Machinery Parts Cleaner

07/27/2012 2:55 PM

I need to find a cleaner/degreaser for my large centrifugal and piston compressors. The cleaner that our ESOH group went out and bought leaves a residue that interfers with our close tolerance fits. If you have any suggestions please feel free to respond. Thank you.

Would you know what the nature of the residue is? It's possible that a ph correction treatment after cleaning may be necessary...

I you sure it is the residue of the cleaner? Could be be the cleaner you used isn't the right one to cut what ever it is that's on your machinery.

What did you use that wasn't satisfactory?

Have not seen a compressor yet other the the small oil less ones that do not use some type of oil for lubrication and coolant. What your saying that this cleaner leaves a residue thicker then the oil? Well I personally have not seen any cleaner/degreaser that were not thinner than compressor oils. Or a cleaner/degreaser that could not be removed with denatured alcohol.

...exactly!

Sounds like the cleaner didn't clean at all.

ABClaw, which parts of the compressor did you clean? Which parts are now exhibiting the post-wash out of tolerance symptoms?
