Transmission Shifting Cable Chevy Cavalier 1998

08/19/2012 5:30 PM

Hello all,

I have a 1998 2.2L Chevy Cavalier. Yesterday the cable that goes from the shifter to the transmission came loose off the transmission.

I have been told by a friend who says he has done this that all I need to do is use a spot of JB Weld and put the cable back on I just would like to know if anyone has done this?

Thanks to all and

GOD Bless you and your families

Kenneth

Unless you know what/where the failure point is and the nature of the failure, I would think it is a little early to say if JB Weld would work or not.

Even if you can cobble it back together, a new cable on Amazon is $43.00. Getting stuck again at night in a bad neighborhood in Miami - priceless.
