What to do With a LG Coal Slurry and Fines

08/25/2012 1:21 AM

Hi, we have a problem with LG coal slurry, the ash content is too high (35-45%) to blend it back with the product so we take it back to the pit. That cost us a lot of money as well. We have slurry ponds, which we dig out and load the slurry to the pit when the ponds are full. Isn't any better way of dealing with this problem?

1. Set up a downstream cement plant, that can use this coal & the ash as well. 2. Find some taker, to setup a cement manufacturing unit, with a continuous free offer of your waste product.

Thanks Joshi, that sounds like a good plan, I will talk to my manager and see if he will buy into the idea.

Are the ash particles verses the coal particles mechanically separate in this slurry? Do the ash verses the coal have different particle size and/or different density? If yes, you may be able to separate the two, blend the coal back in and you then have a much smaller amount of outfall ash to handle.

If you describe the slurry particle size and other attributes I may be able to offer separation methods.

The particle size are -1mm, and any thing below the RD of 1.65 we take as good quality coal, if its above that it contributes to high ashes. If we can have a method to bring the ashes below 30%, that would be great

Could you explain the good/bad particle size and density more. This may be a candidate for separation.
