Need Help to Identify a Pressure Sensor

09/25/2012 9:24 PM

We are trying to integrate pressure sensor into a tiny miniature device (diameter ~ 8mm or 5/16''), what type of sensor would be good for this case?

Interferometry based fiber optic sensors: http://www.opsens.com/en/industries/products/pressure/opp-b/

but they all got their limitations, the Piezoresistant sensors requires a high excitation voltage ~ 5v ,and a media of gas, while we are dealing with fluids. the fiber optic sensor need to have a spectrum analyzer which will be large in size and wont fit in our device.

is there any other miniature pressure sensor that is commercially available?

We will need them <3mm in dimension and around 3v of excitation voltage.

Thanks,

I'd go for option 1 every time... 5v is hardly 'a high excitation voltage'. You can probably get away with 3v.
Why does it have to be 'tiny miniature' I've often found that constraints on projects often turn out to be arbitary and based on the whim of some marketting wonk who just thought it would be nice to have it small/rugged/blue/flexible etc

thanks del i am working on getting this merit sensor, and in our project the size of the sensor has to be small to fit in a space around 2.5mm x 2.5mm x 2mm, which would not be very flexible...
