Three men were asked to participate in a contest where the prize was a beautiful woman on the opposite side of a room, with which the winner could do anything he wanted once it was determined that he was in fact, the winner. The only stipulation was that the participants could only cross half of the distance to the woman at a time. All three started out at the same point with great enthusiasm and anticipation.

The first contestant was a preacher. After his first turn, he realized that he could not win due to his faith. It would be a sin for him to continue with the test as he was married and the lust in his heart weighed heavily upon his conscience. He quit the contest.

The second contestant was a mathematician who made it to about his 4th turn and then realized that he would never arrive because each time, the distance became but due to the infinite number of steps it would take, it was not worth his time. So he quit.

The last contestant was an engineer. He reasoned that he would soon enough be close enough for all practical purposes so he obviously won the contest.
