Junior Achievement & Shale Gas Presentation

10/21/2012 9:02 AM

Members, I have been invited by my Local Chamber of Commerce to create and present a program on Shale Gas for my local School District's JA Program.

I have assembled a group, including The Legal Aspect, Researching, Exploration & Production, and Staffing of Workers. We will all be giving input and our Legal Guru, who has the most recognized Academic Creds will be the Team Leader. She is also a pretty sharp technical sort with knowledge & understanding beyond what one would expect from a Lawyer Type.

So, I have (2) questions. I specialize in Safety, Quality, & Integrity and am reducing the jargon and information I use in my normal training efforts to allow these teens to better understand the area.

1) Does anyone know of any great links that I can use to get free handouts for the teens?

2) Any ideas to give them a truly unbiased viewpoint?

Thanks in Advance

You will find some links HERE, you have to research to segregate, what is copy righted & what needs giving credit & what requires permission.

Where have I said anything about Fracking? And I probably know more about both the Pros and Cons of it and Injection Wells than all of CR4 put together. Now, if I called it Hydro Shearing, as the greenies do, people would be salivating with approval.

Then why did you solicit our help. We know nothing, compared to you, so you are just being solicitous and condescending at the same time.

Pardon my ignorance, but it seems to me that fracking is the hot, controversial topic of the day and is how everybody is, and will be, doing it. Who needs fresh drinking water? Let 'em drink bottled water? Right.

You want to talk about shale gas? Go ahead. The JA's will boo you out of the room if you ignore the most controversial aspect of extracting shale gas.

So much for objectivity.

Good luck.

Lyn, I am presenting a program to HS, not a biased angry old white arizonian, and you know I am right. If you disagree, you have a habit of sniping. Again, where did I mention fracking? We are going to present the job potential, landowner rights & responsibilities, etc. Fracking is only hot with 'entertainers' right now and yes we did plan on resenting both sides. So if you want to paste links, at least post last weeks from Cornell, Duke University, and Penn State, EPA, & DEP, there are both sides in their research not Josh Fox, Yoko Ono, Sean Lennon, and the others. We have all seen the months and years old stuff you linked to. Are you not ever happy?

If I was you I would not go down that path. You never know who is in the forum. I think your comment is somewhat over the top.

I would ask you the same question as Lyn did: Why ask when your approach is you know more about it than anyone here?

I could not really figure what it was you were asking in the first place. Maybe try again with a little bit more effort on explaining the question!

Does this have anything to do with the development of the Utica shale deposits that are shallower in western PA and OH then the remainder of NY, central PA, and ONT?

I just read an article about this deposit where it was stated that the only viable way to extract the NG and oil was to hydro frack. Is this true?

Whatever the presentation to the HS kiddies, it should be unbias, and explore both the pros and cons.
