ACS 600 Drive Runs at Constant Speed

11/04/2012 12:14 PM

I have an ACS 600 drive for motor control. The drive receives a 4-20mA input from a PLC at terminal AI2. The 4-20mA signal changes but the Motor runs at constant maximum speed displaying AI2[mA]=20.3mA.

Could someone explain to me why the drive is ignoring the mA input from the PLC? Can 21.1 which is set to DC MAGN be a factor?

NB: I have set 11.3=AI2;Min AI2=4mA;Maximum AI2=20mA

have you selected the analog input as the refrence?

It may be selected to a preset or to keypad.

I have done exactly that by setting it to AI2. In addition, I have even simulated the input from 4mA to 16mA in increments of 2mA.

Check which application macro the ACS is in. In its set up, from my memory, there are six different modes that it can be in. Some of these will cause it to ignore AI and possibly other input signals

DC MAGN is set to be 1. Is this be the Factor?

Apparently problem doesn't look due DC magnetization activation keeping in view the following functions of DC magnetization.

1.DC magnetization feature guarantee the highest possible torque up to 200 % of motor nominal torque.

2.DC magnetization should be selected if highest possible breakaway torque is required.

3.In case of Scaler mode selected (in case of ACS 800), DC magnetization can't be selected.

Provide further information like Motor capacity, type of application and associated history of the problem.

You need to check the factory IOM for the drive and see if it has "stepper" drive design functionality and/or if it is strictly a "stepper" design unit.

If it is dual usage design you must make sure to set the stepper parameter to "off".

If it is stricly a stepper design drive, you may be able to set all of the individual steps to maximum speed desired then set the control output range to "zero - to - max" needed speed value.

Once you determine the type of drive design most manufacturers offer the setup IOM as a free download from their website if the drive is still supported.

Is your analog input type jumper set for a current (not voltage) input?

Can you send us the parameter file and a picture of all the jumpers installed on the TB's?

I can open the back up files.
