RSLogix5000 Revision Problem

11/09/2012 8:00 AM

I have rslogix5000. When i try to connect to a controller to make changes, i get the message:
" The controller you requested contains firmware version 13.28. RSLogix5000 support for this is not installed."

Can anyone suggest to me how to get the rslogix5000 support for the revision number 13 since i don't want to risk upgrading the firmware. where can i download this?? or if i need to buy, where???

This would be the time to quit wasting time here and call Rockwell.

RSLogix 5000 from Rockwell Software
What other solution could you possibly expect?

I can tell you from experience that Lyn hit this right on the money. In fact you will find if you don't have the license disk you won't be able to install or activate the software at all. When this happened to me, I called Rockwell, they verified our corporate license over the phone, then FedEx'ed me a license disk the next day to replace the lost one for no additional charge. They are very helpful if you just call them at (440) 646-5800. I am running versions 10.06 and 13.03 for my applications.

Good luck with your quest.

As usual we have an op that doesn't give enough information, and doesn't come back with any more input. But let's try a little logic on what he did write:

When i try to connect to a controller to make changes, i get the message:
" The controller you requested contains firmware version 13.28. RSLogix5000 support for this is not installed."

1. If he did not already have a license, it would say: "License not found, RSLogix 5000 does not have a test (?) mode". The question is what rev level. If it is greater than the controller, then he already has what he needs, he just needs to install it. If it is less than the controller, then yes, he will need to purchase an upgrade package (if he doesn't have a maintenance contract).

"rslogix5000 support for the revision number 13 since i don't want to risk upgrading the firmware."

2. This is where we really need input from the op. The way that I read this says that his RSLogix 5000 is at a higher rev level than the controller. That is the only reason that he would need to "risk upgrading his firmware" (in the controller).

3. I have (and still am) running versions from 10 through 19. And Rockwell no longer uses license disks.

If the revision number of your RSLogix 5000 is greater than 13 (say version 15), then do a reinstall of the RSLogix 5000 and this time choose version 13 and 15 both be installed.

Do you have a newer version by chance?. You can go ahead and install previous versions using the same install CD that came with your RSLogix5000. If you don't have the CD, you can find all the various firmware updates / drives on the Rockwell website.

Try here:

Best of luck!

Friend,

Lyn was right, along with the others. Some Rockwell software products do not exhibit very much (if any) "backwards compatibility". Lets say that I create a project using a computer with a very recent version of the software and then download it into a controller or operator interface. Then I come back later to view or edit it and am using a computer with an older release of the software. Even though this computer's software installation is valid, because of how the project was stored into the controller or interface, the older release of the software cannot access it.

You will have to update your computer to the version required by the controller or interface's program.
