Hydraulic Hybrid Vehicles

I am developing training and diagnostic programs for HHV. My clients see HHV as a way to make compressed natural gas vehicles more viable with the fuel economy improvements possible with HHV. I can use any source material available

Are you suggesting that a hybrid ICE/hydraulic vehicle would be more efficient than a CNG vehicle driving the wheels directly????

NO but milage and range are weak areas for CNG that need improvement

The EPA studies prove it is more efficient. There are always more than one answer to uissues. The electrric hybgrids are a enviromental nightmare with some much nichel that has to be recycled from the massive battery packs.

I would agree, "...milage and range are weak areas for CNG that need improvement". However with an energy density of about 25% that of diesel fuel, vehicle mileage and range issues are not unanticipated.

Not to mention all the energy lost in going from direct drive to hydraulic drive with the attendant losses to friction etc.

But, what do I know? Maybe the accumulator is the key here.

Brings a whole new meaning to the term we used to used for automatic (hydraulic) transmissions as "slush boxes".
