Minimum Coil Thickness Measurement for a Dryer

11/25/2012 3:56 AM

Hi Guys,

We have a Multicoil dryer (2/5-36) provided by NLI Norwey in 2008. The dryer was designed according to some norwegian standard TBK 1-2, now I need to calculate minimum thickness of Coils so we can predict the end of life and order a new assembly well before time. Can you please guide me which standard can be used for the minimum Coil thickness calculation??

Coil is 316L, nominal thickness 5.5mm, with steam @ 6bar going through inside the coil. The external coil surface is in contact with Nickel powder.

You need to discuss this with the surveyor from your indemnity insurance company, Murphy. Only this individual can determine the safe working pressure for the dryer coils, as periodic pressure test records are the vital piece of information. I presume you have a full inspection and test record?

Then you aren't getting the service you are paying for. Change your insurance company.

Have you tried NLI Norwey for advice? They should be in a better position to render advice.
