Looking for ESD Communities

05/22/2007 1:25 PM

I'm an electrician/general maint.technician at an RF Filter manufacturing plant. Our production floor is approx. 40,000 sq. Ft. I'm actually the one in the trenches pulling ground wires, installing wrist straps, work station mats, etc.

Fortunately our building is only 15 yrs old. The tile floor passes. (As long as we keep up with the proper ESD wax.) Its the rest that is a constant struggle. We are always relocating production lines to keep up with the ever changing product.

I don't have a technical question at the present moment. But can anyone tell me if there is any message board communities, or any other format for that matter, for Manufacturing, ESD Compliance. This is an ever evolving requirement in our electronic world.

Naturally the customers would like the entire 40,000' floor to be ESD Class 0. And I would love to provide that for them.(Nearly impossible, but we do try!) I find there are times when even my answer people are baffled. I know I can't be the only installer with periodical questions. And I do have some "School of Hard Knocks" education I would love to pass along.

If there are no such existing communities and anyone is interested in starting one I will pitch in. Although web page design is not my forte`. I never mind putting my 2 cents in. Thanks in Advance, Jack

Contact the CR4 Guys - they may be able to help you set a space up (like a blog) on here - or they may think (I do) that this is worthy of its own section on CR4. Have you checked out the Elec section of CR4?

Hello Jack what sort of thing do you wish to know? You seem to have things fairly well worked out. Is it just technical shoulder to cry on that you need when it gets to be a little over wrought? I worked at the sharp end on this and I thought it had pretty much settled down with standards set out and good practice established. There are technical manuals on the subject, but they do tend to cost a small fortune. How can we at CR4 help you?
