What is Active Components and Static Components?

Dear all:

In some technical documents ,I see "active components " and "static components " ,and I do not know what components it express..anyone can explain ? Thanks in advance..

What's the context? Mechanical? Electrical/electronic? Chemical? Give us a clue.

In that case, I'd suggest it's a bad translation of "passive components". See JPool's reply, above.
