Motor Eliminates Mechanical Drive

05/24/2007 2:16 PM

In corrugated printing and converting machinery, one manufacturer settled on a direct drive rotary (DDR) motor to simplify machine design. In this case study, they achieved a need for substantially fewer parts, increased reliability and throughput, and reduced maintenance. Can you simply machine or process systems through motor selection?

I agree to you.

more and more motor to use will reduce complex and cost of a machine design and runnig.

these motor can be controlled by electronic tech and increase reliable and flexibility.

robot is a good example.

Can you explain more what a DDR motor replaces? Is it just for low speed rotating application like the example? Is its primary benefit the relacement of gear reducers? VFD's?

Thanks,
