A diamond will melt at 4000 K?! Wow, finding something that stays solid at 40,000 K is impressive. Finally we can build that ship to the center of the earth.
Belief if we can penetrate the outer core / or not

Yes there are recent beliefs that off shore drilling beyond the continental shelf has pierced the crust and new material may sustain temperatures met in inner/outer core environments... This theory is largely flawed in that we know much less about processes involved with the earths magnetic field, currently accepted by the flow of the outer core around a dense solid iron / nickel inner core.
My hypthesis is that unpredicted conditions or changes when traveling throught the outer core due to the thermocline would surely destroy anyones plan in drilling through earths core.
