No1Techblog Pest

01/29/2013 11:37 PM

dear friends,

I am using Windows 7 ultimate on my computer and every time when I boot up I get this very embarrassing pop up to battle. Cleaning did not work.

A window appears, asking me if I want to make internet explorer my default browser and also a black window with white text - in the address line:

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

http://no1techblog.blogspot.com/#_methods=onPlusOne%2C_ready%2C_close%2C_open%2C_resizeMe%2C_renderstart%2Concircled%2Conauth%2Conload&id=I0_1359519803207&parent=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.blogger.com&pfname=%2Fnavbar-iframe

WARNING: DO NOT OPEN THIS LINK OR YOU HAVE THE SAME UNWANTED VISITOR

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Is there a cure?

My last resort is to block it in the router, but then I also block other sites that need to pass according a schedule.

Thank for the help.D

This is a bug, seems most prevalent in FireFox and most malware programs won't touch it. Upgrading to a newer version of FireFox seems to help. Are you using FF or IE?

It starts before the computer is ready. It even slips to the display before my anti-virus program goes in protective mode. I use avira and the umbrella opens a fraction later.

Has it nested in the startup?

When I make a new user, it doesn't show immediately but finds its way to that account after a few log ins.

The browser I use in Chrome is the Avira/Ask browser.

Went to

C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts and adding the URL's under 127.0.01. doesn't help.

Same for cdn.hyperpromote.com another upcoming hassle.

You seem to be confused about which browser you are using....Chrome is the name of google's browser, the firefox is mozilla....and IE is microsoft...

Confusius is my middle name. You got me thinking now.

I am using Chrome 24

The Avira/ask is an added search engine from the Antivirus system. I have Firefox on my Macbook and there it doesn't happen.

Thank you.D

Yes they added the search bar with the anti-virus to get extra revenue, it's easily removed....

Chrome>Settings>Under Search section Manage Search Engines>select Ask and click on Cross icon at the end of it to remove from Chrome.

The Avira/Ask bar allows free internet anti virus protection. A service that is free on this condition. Otherwise you pay $25.00 per year for the same protection without the bar.

Yes, I am confused, because IE9 on my dell wrestles itself into my browser screen and suppresses the Avira bar.

Is IE really necessary? Chrome needs it to run?

As to the malware, it did not succeed to remove it yet.

I also find no wrench in my browser.(over the whole display)

Is it Chrome?

In principle, I avoid search bars and work with minima minimorum, just to not have to fight advertisements and malware too much. I use CCleaner but it doesn't remove my coffin's nail. Perhaps I need to move to Lyn's mountain too?

Thanks

This is an unwanted add on in firefox browser, just go to browser add on's and look for "play music" or "play piano" and remove it....

Is about to take control of the computer. It works on the foreground and suppresses all the actions I undertake.

I have not seen anything about this with chrome, just firefox. I would uninstall chrome, reinstall it from a fresh DL.

You might try running the free (not trial) verson of Malwarebytes available at www.filehippo dot com (do a Google search for "filehippo malwarebytes"--look for "Download Malwarebytes" in the first search result).

Download and install the program--but NOT as a trial, then let it do the definitions update and then let it scan your computer. It will point out that "Ask" is adware, and will probably find the malware that is causing your problems, as well as many other. It will remove anything that is checked--don't be surprised if certain "free" programs that you have downloaded do not function correctly after the cleanup. Programs like "Poker" software, and "Slots" software will sometime quit functioning if the spyware or adware is too deeply embedded in the code.

Remember to uncheck all the little ad-ons that are conveniently checked when you install free programs from the internet. The program may be free, but those who give it to you usually allow software like "Ask", and many others, to be added to the installation process to gain access to your computer. These programs generally like to be attached to your browser, and send back tracking information about your browsing habits to compile data that they can sell. Even Avira, has bundled Ask with their free version, to make money from it's dispersal throughout the internet. As a techie, I spend a great deal of time removing a variety of these apps--and they are considered "Spyware" due to the way that they track your activities on the internet.

Perhaps if we, as responsible computer users, would contribute more to those diligent souls who tirelessly write these programs that we receive for free (from websites where we often see "Please donate") we would see less websites bundling spyware with the downloaded programs.

There are websites, however, that write poor quality software so they can have something "free" to download for the sole purpose of bundling as many spyware apps as possible--for the sole purpose of maximizing their incomes.

Good Luck!

The only anti-virus sofware I have found to date that prevents these web browser hi-jacking virus program is Kapersky.

Since switching to their product I have not had any more issues with these unwanted intrusions.

I also had a browser hijacker in IE8, the only program that got rid of it was Bitdefender 2013. I tried Malwarebytes, Spyware Hunter, Adaware, Norton, Ect... Bitdefender got rid of it, but it used too many CPU cycles, so once I had it clean, I had to uninstall Bitdefender

Just restore your system to an earlier version, some time before this thing infected you.

You back up your system often, don't you?
