HVAC Air Flow

02/27/2013 10:30 AM

how to decide air velocity for given air flow(example like 2000CFM) in AHU if it has some static pressure due to some pressure drops in duct, obstacles in AHU, without knowing duct dimensions, at start after calculation of AIRflow how it will be decided.

Asking the same question over and over won't get you a better answer.

There are thousands of free calculators on-line.

Not exactly the same question, but a refinement of the previous question.

ASHRAE and some fan data books will provide guidelines for air velocities for various situations. These are based on how much noise the space can handle and how much pressure loss you can handle with the fan. Small ducts with high air velocities are noisy and energy inefficient, but somewhat inexpensive to buy and install. Large ducts with slow air flows are quiet and have minimum friction losses, but are more expensive.

It becomes a matter for judgement for each application.
