2mw Wind Turbine Gearbox and Generator Motor

03/09/2013 4:12 PM

Hi

I have design a new type Low headflow water turbine and was hopping to use a 2mw wind turbine gearbox and generation motor .

But i am unable to find this in cad form to do the testing and evaluating my design.

Can anybody help me with this problem

Yes.

You will need to select a supplier and ask then for this information.

Keep trying, because there's a very good chance that no one here will have proprietary drawings you want.

Perish the thought, you may have to purchase a gear box and generator to get the dimensions.

You WILL be buying one eventually, right?

I doubt that you have tried very hard to get these files from a potential supplier, or, seeing the chance for a sale, would be receptive to helping you.

No body's going to do the leg work for you.

I recommend that you get your units and nomenclature correct. A 2 milli-watt wind turbine sounds like a pinwheel to me.

please to say it not a pinwheel type design but could easily turn 4mw turbine.

the losses in a pinwheel would be too great to use a 2mw or 4mw unit

the design has taken out 75% of the drag on the run of the water and can run both direction and will blend in to the surroundings

I guess you do mean only 2 to 4 milliwatt. For a wind unit it then sounds like you should look for an anemometer.

Sorry I am confused, is this for a 2MW turbine or a 2mW turbine as there is a rather large difference?

Why, its only nine orders of magnitude different. That shouldn't be a problem. They will both work just as well in air and water with no difference in design result. The density of air and water is just a simple three orders of magnitude difference. The Reynolds number of each of these fluids will change a little, too.

I wonder, if the turbines are made out of steel instead of aluminum is the austenite number used instead? When canvas sails were used did the shipbuilders consider the threads per inch?

Yes, some things don't scale well in the real world.

Looking at the term pinwheel you can say yes and no. The way its place on the unit

AS it only travel at between 5-19 rpm. TO PRODUCE 2MW OF POWER.

Try contacting Vestas or one of the other wind turbine manufacturers.

Also try contacting the manufacturers of water turbine systems (which are better suited to working with water as wind turbine gearboxes are designed for loads and mechanical conditions caused by wind).

Don't expect much help from any of them however as the information you are asking for is proprietary.

You may have to fund this yourself or talk with a water turbine manufacturer regarding a business partnership, etc. Consider designing and building a scaled-down version as a proof of concept FIRST.

Alternatively give up on using wind turbine technology and use industrial gearbox and generator designs and technology to design, model and eventually build your water turbine idea.
