CompAir Air End of Model L-30

03/29/2013 12:52 AM

Dear All,

I have to know about the possibilities of air end male/female rotor wear & tear. How the compressor would behave under this condition?

Can the sealing strips repairable or not since the clearance is too small.

Also at what running hrs the air end be replaced.

Regards

What does the operator's manual say?

What does the manufacturer's web site say?

What does the factory rep say?

Have you bothered to do ANY research on your own?

Tell us what you have done, so far.

Hi,

Airend replacement recommended at 32,000 hrs run. Consider motor bearing replacement at the same time.

Your post seems very vague to give realistic advice.

Yes, air end rotors can wear with use, particularly if filters are not properly cared for.

A compressor with worn rotors will not run well, being short off air pressure, capacity, using excess oil, oil carry over, etc.

The detailed manuals for the equipment should be able to tell you advisability of replacing seals, and instructions to follow.

Recommended hours for air end replacement are dependant on operating condition.

Mae/female rotors, is it screw-compressor?

Is it dry or lubricated? With synchronizing gears?

There are many types. If you are not able to presume the needed details for possible troubleshooting, you may try answering the questions for the experts here around, there by finding out most useful solution.

Wear and tear increases the air gap. The oil fails to make an effective seal, the pressure drops off and hot compressed air leaks back and gets re-compressed causing the oil and air to reach very high temperatures that causes oxidation of the oil.

The solids and varnish created block the filter/separator (costly to replace) as well as causing loss of flow to the system, meaning the compressor runs longer, leading to overheating.

High temperature oil creates even more oil mist that overloads the final filters and contaminates the equipment and product, and the oil vapour contaminates the atmosphere in the workplace.
