Fluke Power Analyzer Apeak Means?

04/01/2013 9:12 AM

Hi, I used Fluke Power Analyzer to measure the current of 3 phase supply which serving to building. This 3 phase supply directly from Singapore power grid.(PUB)

Once i download all the reading from the Fluke power analyzer noticed its giving so many type of current reading like Apeak, Ahalfwave all those. For example current coloum come out 102A and Apeak coloum in same time come out 206A. Anybody got idea whats this 206A referring to? Its name as Apeak. Is it referring to Peak to peak value of current? If is it like that need to be 102Xsqure root of 2. I'm just confused. Please help me if anybody use this type of fluke power analyzers before. Thanks.

Not sure which model meter you are using but with my meter the Apeak value of 206A would be the "A" phase "peak-to-peak" measured maximum value as recorded. (If I have the "A" signal lead(s) attached to the "A" phase.)

As for the 102 x Sq Root of 2 value: There are multiple modes of measurement available with/from Fluke meters (Reactive, Apparent, Effective, etc.) and the value(s) and/or waveforms you are observing are a result of how you have set the meter up.

You need to set the meter up for the correct protocol and display characters that fit you application and the country your are in.

Hello Hasantha:

Without knowing at least the model number, it is very difficult for me to help you out, but let us do something:

Imagine you are totally novice to the job, an apprentice if you wish, and you never studied that at school; what are you going to do ?

Hint:

Read the manual of the instrument in its entirety, until you understand everything, if you're in doubt, don't go any further, get that understood first.

Hook up the probes following all applicable safety measures.

Take notes, pictures and fully document your procedure.

Nicely surprise your boss with a professional, handsome and well presented report.

If you don't have the manuals, google the model of your analyzer and download it from the web.

Regards

From the Fluke 434/435 PQA manual:

Apeak: Absolute highest sample value within 10/122 cycle interval with 40 uS sample resolution.

A Crest Factor: Measures ratio between the Apeak and Arms

Those are the only two times that the value 'Apeak' appears in the user manual which was provided with my Fluke.
