ETAP Question - Custom Library for a Relay

04/02/2013 6:33 AM

When u are adding a custom library for a relay (from the "library" menu at the top) in ETAP 7.0, at the "relay library: model" window , in the "model info" section,,,, there is a parameter called "current setting". The value of which is one of the followings:

0.2

1

2

5

2/5

1/2

1/5

1/3/5

0.1/1/5

0.2/1/5

0.03/0.2/1/5

etc

Are these the currents which the relay can read as an input? so that if i set the current setting of a relay to, for example, 0.03/0.2/1/5. Then does it mean that the relay will only read the input accurately when the relay amps (CT secondary side / relay input) is equal to 0.03, 0.2, 1, or 5 ampere? can anyone confirm about this

regards

The current rating is the maximum input current that the relay can receive from the CT secondary. A relay can have only one current rating (such as 5) or multiple current rating (such as 1/5). If the current rating is multiple, the relay should have the option (either by programming or selector switch) to select the rating which one you want to use. For example, GE Multilin 469 relay has current rating 1/5 (see fig below):

In the "relay library: model" page of ETAP, you should select 0.03/0.2/1/5, only if the relay has four input current ratings, such as 0.03A, 0.2A, 1A and 5A. See the catalog of the relay that you are adding in the library and find the relay input current. Use the input current that the relay has in its catalog.

Hope it helps.

This is a genuine question, and hence no hesitation.

You can use the Insert/Edit Image icon (shown yellow highlighted below) to add a picture file.

You can use Windows 7 snipping tool (Start -> Snipping Tool) to capture anything from your screen and save it as a picture (such as .png file) and insert it in your post.

Hope it helps.
