Super Batteries Coming Soon

Graphene Silicon Nanoplatelets Increase Lithium-Ion Battery Capacity 4 fold....

".... XG Sciences has announced the immediate availability of a graphene-silicon additive for lithium-ion batteries in commercial scale quantities. These graphene nanoplatelets will allow lithium-ion batteries to hold four times the amount of energy and extend the lifespan of the batteries substantially. This technology holds great potential for extending the range of electric vehicles, increasing the time between charges for portable consumer electronic devices, decreasing the weight of portable electronic devices, and decreasing the cost for the storage of electrical energy from solar cells for nighttime usage."....

A good example of technology moving at a high rate of speed.

Last month's battery technology is now obsolete.

Expect a unforeseen or not yet mentioned fatal flaw or at minimal a rather large Achilles heel to follow shortly behind.

So they are more of a super super capacitor and not so much a battery?

Would that mean they won't have the downfalls of lithium based batteries that burn up when exposed to the oxygen in air or freeze up and lose all of their capacity in sub zero F temps?

I think it will turn out to be a hybrid with the best of both worlds, fast charging, high capacity, energy dense, lightweight......We'll have to wait on the temperature range, but it does look promising, graphene itself does not seem to be effected by temperature extremes....

battery tech is beginning to remind me of processor speed back in the 80s, every month a new record and a new promise of processors everywhere for real cheap. now few people v have a clue how fast their pc is, they just care if it works.
