Electronic Ignition

05/03/2013 10:17 PM

HI guys,

So it's back To the land rover.

I've been thinking about hall effect conversion on my ignition system, lm aware of course of the excellent kits/products available but The main criteria here is cost. (I'm copping a bit of flak regards spending any more on my landy.)

I've bought the hall device, a HKZ101 ($20_00) but I'm having a bit of trouble devising a rotor vane.

Any ideas...?

Norm

I would just go to the junkyard and get one with the correct number of vanes off another vehicle.

Actually personally I would have just did a electronics conversion with an off the shelf Pertronix kit.

A long time ago, I was "into" building various permutations of the Oldsmobile/Buick/Pontiac 215-cubic-inch V-8. These were the basis for the Rover/Land Rover V-8 engines of today, despite the original engineering and technology being over fifty years old.

I have not been privy to this thread before, but "Hays" used to make a system for this engine's conversion to electronic ignition. I don't think that any new units are available, but the systems might be available used or "NIB" on line. Further, the Hays units were magnetic, not depending upon a rather fragile Hall-effect device.
