I'd ask the maker of your rock crusher what to use.

Depends on many other factors....

"Straight, Full Curved, & Straight with Curved Ends Jaws

As viewed from the side, we offer Straight, Curved and Straight with Curved End jaw plates. Selection depends on nip angle needed for the feed material, wear patterns, and product sizing.Smooth and Toothed Jaws
We offer Smooth and many different Toothed Styles, including Sharp and Round Tooth designs.High and Anti-Slab Teeth Jaws
These styles are effective in breaking sedimentary rock and in recycling road materials.

Toothed with Smooth End Jaws
We can provide toothed jaws with filled Smooth Ends for extra wear resistance.

Standard and Xtralloy® premium alloys
Jaw crusher plates and parts are available in our tough standard manganese steel and our long-wearing Xtralloy premium manganese steel."

Solar Eagle...thanks for your reply...

Is it possible to find some sort of "catalog" that show FOR EXAMPLE:

1.- For basalt .- Use Curved Jaw Plate

2.- River-stone.- Use Full Curved

3.- Slab tendency .- Use Antislab Jaw plate

4.- Limestone.- Use Round egge

etc

etc

Of course that on the base of hardeness, feeding size, Output size, Ton/Hr, etc.

we are a aggregate producer for constructions companies...in fact I already read the Columbia Steel brochure in the Web....but need more specific information.

Any book I can seek ?

Thanks again

Page 6 gives jaw designs.....almost all the jaws are made from manganese steel alloys....

Solar Eagle...I could undertand that manganese-Crome-Silica-etc work as re-forced the plate....Let me try with this question...Why would you use "Straight Plate" instead of "Round-edge Plate" ? because of the raw material ???.... I am seeking for a "catalog" that show Plate Profile - Raw material.....meaning....If Basalt, use Straigth....if Limestone, use Round...if Dolomite, use smooth....if riverstone, use full-belly....Base on the experience.

Another example......."When you know all the features of the raw material, like hardness, feeding-output size, Ton/Hrs, Density, etc.....how do you decide the cross section profile ???

I think the shape of the plate has to do with the design of the equipment, the profile of the jaw would be determined by the size and type of the input material vs the desired size of output.....the percentage of manganese would be determined by the hardness of the materials being processed...a lot of the information you seek is proprietary in nature and not freely distributed......
