AT&T Land Line Hardware User

07/03/2013 9:13 AM

I have an att "expandable to 4" land line phone. After every call in or out and after the desk top phone goes dark, I count 15 seconds and the red light comes on which says: "in use". It stays on for one second and then goes dark. There are no other extensions off the hook. What gives?.

Has to be a glitch in the NSA system.

Are these cordless phones?

If so, it's probably just resetting it's internal CR4p, and configuring with the other phones in the network.

Get one of these....it'll stop happening.

I forgot what they're called, but everybody at the NSA is to young to know how to tap them. The "how to" files were thrown away when they fired all of the old guys.

Explain "goes dark"

Is the phone analog or digital

goes dark means when all of the background lighting on the screen turns off. the phone is digital. there is only one phone line.

I have one Sears SR model phone since 1991, which my brother in U.S had discarded using it. When I visited U.S in 1991, I just picked it up brought it in India. Surprisingly it works here without any repairs so far.

1. PDST (Power Down Self Test)

2. Entering Power Saver Mode Notification

3.Download Recording to Home Land Security Completed - Handset Offline Notification

Pick one or call AT&T Technical Support and ask them.

Happy Independence Day America!!

Greetings.

I have a cordless phone and after I hang up it does a ding.

I have a 2500 touch tone desk set and it makes a ding after I hang up.

I have Century Link service out here in the boonies.

The telephone and DSL comes from Century Links Central Office (ABOUT 8 MILES AWAY) on a carrier system, on fiber I believe, into a very large metal box a couple of miles down the road.

The telephone service comes from that metal box by a copper cable pair to by house.

Now I don't know how your telephone gets to you but it probably gets somewhat the same way.

Saying all this is to say that the sophisticated carrier system is probably just sending back a signal to verify that you indeed have hung up and didn't just flash the switchhooks on the phone to add on a conference line or another feature.

The system being satisfied then drops communication with your line and your phone is sensing all this protocol.

OR, maybe it is BIG BROTHER OR BIG SISTER watching you.

Actually watching you is more sophisticated and you probably will not know when we are being WATCHED.
