Difference of MCB 2P & MCB 1P+N

08/11/2013 4:47 AM

Hi,

Our client are asking us whether we can use the 2Pole MCB in place of 1P+N MCB because the breaking capacity of the both the poles are different at 230-240VAC, (if breaking capacity is not a concern) then, is there any change of characteristics with change from 1P+N to 2P, also 2Pole is for 2Phases where as 1P+N is for 1Phase & neutral. Our requirement is for 1P+N.

Please can you explain to us in detail.

Thanks in advance.

You need to hire an electrician, fast.

If you don't even understand the terms, you are a danger to society, and are taking money under false terms.

Your client may think you are competent, your question here proves you are a fraud.

In a 2-Pole MCB, both the poles will have the thermal & magnetic protection elements whereas in an SPN MCB, only the phase pole will have the thermal magnetic protection element and the neutral pole will only be an isolating pole without any protection element.

It was OK earlier to go for SPN MCBs for single phase loads, when the quality of the power supply was fairly good. But, with today's corrupted power, it is advisable to go for 2-Pole MCBs as these would protect the neutral pole also from any adverse effects.

Client asking for 2 pole MCB and your requirement is 1P+N.(???).....' 2pole is for 2 phases"...(your understanding is wrong)

Manufacturuer claim that 1P+N MCB has advantage in terms of Size, tripping characterstics and breaking capacities.
