Ratiometric Output

09/18/2013 1:48 AM

Dear All,

Please advise what is Ratiometric output? I have just seen a pressure transmitter which is called as Ratiometric pressure transmitter (Power supply: 4.5-5.5VDC, O/P:0-5VDC). I googled & found that this transmitter has ratiometric output & is for refrigeration & air conditioning applications.

It simply means that the output voltage from the sensor is a ratio of the supply voltage

It's useful when the ADC reading it is running from the same supply voltrage as the sensor - as it removes supply voltage effects.
