Really?!? You need help understanding how to measure a physical dimension of an object.

Well I need help to understand why you need to measure this instead of just asking the manufacturer for this esoteric information. I also do not understand why you need to know this piece of information at all. If you were designing the magnetic components of the generator or you were choosing the bearings to support the rotor I could then see a reason to know this information. To do either job though you should already have complete access to the manufacturing documentation.

One of these might work. Can you guess which one?

Do you think that they'll understand how to use this, I don't.

If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words is hands on training worth?

I can't remember the last time I thought an OP might have had any training at all.

Those with some training at least know how to frame a question.

Seems that way!

None of them know how to gather information on their own, for sure!

No. I have more suspicions they are the latest and greatest that out university systems have managed to churn out under the generalized title of engineer.

5+ years of schooling in every single aspect of everything but what their field is about.

I think very few OP's who come here looking for someone to do their work for them today have seen the inside of a real university.

Certainly not for 5 years.

The temper tantrum of giving us all an OT for our replies confirms the presence of a diaper. How sad.

What is a real university anyway?

I went to one some years ago that claimed it was real but what I left with convinced me it was just a fancy sports program and a bunch of poorly disguised BS.

Many universities are nothing more than entertainment training camps. The major factor with all universities is the drive of the student to learn. IMHO not enough universities fail their students on academics. But that's another OT rant.
