Laser scan filtering

06/08/2007 9:01 AM

We need to process some images that are created by a laser line scanner. The data cloud from the scanner provides images that show the object's shape, but the images also contain some spurious artifacts resulting from reflections and background noise.

Where can I obtain/purchase algorithms that can be used to "filter" the images to clean them up? Or, how can I find a s/w engineer in the Milwaukee area who can create the needed algorithms?

We are using primarily C++ and Win 32.

Once you have the 2D image in memory you can apply most image analysis libraries

to clean it up. Most frame grabber manufactures have them available. Also,

if you have more complex needs check out the Math software (Mathlab) ..powerful stuff....

Check internet (Google) Frame Grabbers, Image Analysis, Math software

Thanks for the input.

The images we are interested in are actually 3D, since we rotate the line scanner around the object. Still, your comments apply.

Thanks again.
