Hi Guest,

Sorry for not responding earlier, but I omitted to subscribe and almost deleted the blog.

Hydraulic motors may be uni or bi-directional. If by selection it is operated in one direction, the return fluid needs to be piped back to the reservoir. A bi-directional motor either uses a directional control valve, or may be reversed through the supply pump as a "closed loop" system. The latter has advantages in accuracy of control.

Hope this helps!

My question was due to curiosity since i saw a lot of single acting cylinders with gravuty or spring return but i never saw a hydraulic motor able to be used only in one direction. If you have a source where such a motor (rotating only for one direction per specification of the manufacturer) is presented i would highly appreciate to know it.

Any of the gear or gerotor types should do.

Google Danfoss (hydraulics), Casappa, GMM, Bosch hydraulics....or just hydraulic motors

Those are motors which CAN be also used in one direction but not ONLY for one direction. They are not "single acting" as the cylinders.

1- pressure is in N/surface unit

2- look in the catalogues of ENERPAC it is a company supplying high pressure components and among them single actin rams.
