Integrity Problems Experienced With Static

01/16/2014 2:18 AM

Good Day,

I want to discuss the typical integrity problems experienced with static equipment and explain the methods of detection and prevention of these problems

One of these is Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) which can be detected by Close Visual Inspection or Dye-Penetrant Inspection

I want to know about what and how to detect the other integrity problem... from your experince

Regards...

Failure can be a reliable indicator of a problem with integrity.

,

Unwillingness to be identified, such as is hinted at by posting anonymously can also indicate problems with integrity.

I suppose you mean static electricity? In 2004, I made the mistake of becoming involved with an "Internet Cafe". We lost 17 computers before we figured out what was going on. It was static electricity.

The fix was simple. We bought a humidifier and never lost another one (out of 46). Fortunately they were under warranty but we still had to do all the labor of changing out the mother boards.

What you might not be telling us could be important. Are you in a highly corrosive environment? Sounds like it to me.

Congratulations on relinquishing your anonymous status in this post!

.

The additional information is helpful, but more specificity is yet required.....the scope of the question is far too broad. A decent answer that was specific enough to be useful would probably entail more information than the total of what is held in books at a typical small town library.

.

The insufficiently specific answer is that a wide array of techniques and technologies, usually non-destructive, are utilized according to preventative, predictive and reactionary maintenance regimes. These techniques and technologies usually involve analyzing for indication the existence or approach of conditions strongly correlated with eminent failure and/or for indication of the absence or departure of conditions correlated with continued safe operation. As such these techniques and technologies serve as a warning, indicating action is necessary for continued safe operation.
