Case Carburizing of EN8 or BS970 080M40

Is it possible to case carburize EN8 or BS970-080M40 to get surface hardness of 60 Hrc?

Actually I already found that Handbook but I didnt read it as I thought its just about material chemical composition. But, after you suggested I went through it and found the answer.

Thanks very much.

Actually I wanted to have strength of En8 and localized surface hardnes of 60 Hrs to 0.5mm depth.

But, now I think I should rather go for EN36 or 655M13

If you look in special books you will see that if C>0.3-0.35% carburizing is not recommended for different reasons. Both steels are over the limit.

Instead of carburising, you may go for quenching of steel EN8 after heating to a temperature of 820-860 degree C and quench in oil or water. Tempering is required after quenching.

Do you expect with so little carbon to obtain the reqired hardness ? If you already did it give the secret since till now it was never possible.

I very much appreciate when counsels are done after reading FULLY the request and UNDERSTANDING it.
