Laptop Key Interchange Internally

Dells are quiet easy to cheat. Your best bet is that a funny guy from the company swapped the actual keys - means he lifted them off the keyboard and put them back in the wrong place.

If you do not have funny collegues you indeed have a problem with the settings.

Find out what layout you have and pick the correct layout for the keyboard in the settings.

If someone actually swapped the keys you would think that would be quite noticeable.

@ is shift 2, and " is shift ' I think if the "2" key appeared someplace other than next to the "1" the OP would notice that. Sounds like an internal problem/setting.

If they were swapped with keys from another layout it would produce this error and you could by no means rectify this.

You should work where I work where it is part of the fun to do this!

But you are right @ and " are reversed for different layouts but then more than these two should produce the wrong result!

How I can swap between UK/USA?

Not sure what OS you are using but for Windows 7 the mouse clicks go like this:

Start

Control Panel

Clock Region & Language

Region & Language

Change Keyboard and follow the prompts.

Just dug up some more o/s options (after I'd stoppped myself suggesting airplane/ship ).

Have to confess, the problem left me baffled for several hours when I first encountered it. Should have payed attention when doing the o/s install .

Not all keyboards are the same. Solar Eagles shows the @ as a shifted 2 on my keyboard (UK) @ is a shifted '. Have a look in your set-up to confirm the keyboard and language are correct for your keyboard layout.
