All We Need is a Warp Drive

02/12/2014 3:34 PM

About 1 in 5 suns like ours has earth sized planets in the goldilocks zone according to data from the Kepler telescope. Read this! http://www.nytimes.com/2013/11/05/science/cosmic-census-finds-billions-of-planets-that-could-be-like-earth.html

Just make friends with the space aliens my wife says are coming/already here to help. A few light years for them is like a few miles for us.

No. Wait . That wont work. If we just discovered a habitable planet now the odds are they already know about it and have set up camp of their own. Never mind.

That's nothing.

My satellite dish picks up extraterrestrial communications all the time. These communications depict lifelike forms uttering totally unintelligible strings of words.

The list is long, but a few are "Duck Dynasty" where beings with faces obscured by facial hair speak in tongues, wear foreign clothes, paint their faces black and blow on noise makers.

"Little Honey Boo Boo" where morbidly obese beings also speak in some foreign language while wearing what can only be describe as some strange ceremonial garb.

"Sponge Bob Square Pants" which defies any rational explanation.

The list goes on, and on, and on, and on.

I think they have already poisoned our water.

Should have mentioned C-Span.

There is compelling reason to believe that this is the very reason other intelligent life refuses to contact us.

""Sponge Bob Square Pants" which defies any rational explanation."

Hey now we watch SpongeBob most every day but in Turkish! Now that's a real mind bender right there.

BTW the Turkish cartoon voice actors are no where close to the over the top ranges of what he real American voice actors are.

It's time to build the B Ark.

Since this could be both an historic and diplomatic event, I petition we send the politicians on that first Ark.

Wouldn't they, being more like the captains of Mothership Earth, want to stay here and go down with her?

The more I learn about earth, the less likely I think the 'earth'like' planets are at all relevant, or the probability of meeting equivalent civilizations out there is any more than so small as to be irrelevant.

The civilization we enjoy today is only because of a 12,000 yr climate anomaly in the prior 'normal' pattern of alternating raging fire or ice locked cold on earth. I presently have no reason to believe that other 'earthlike' planets have stable climates, conducive to building advanced civilizations, any more frequently than our own.

In spite of the permissive climate, we also managed to wipe our own civilizations repeatedly by pure adolescent mismanagement, up until now. (what..now?)

Given the prior climate record, I only wonder whether we have time to annihilate our civilization by adolescent mismonkeymanagement one more time, wasting what we learned, before we have to face a return to the 'natural' climate cycle, difficult to survive.

It would also be colossally foolish to think that we should ship off to some unknown 'earthlike' planet to evade those natural extremes right here.

If you are riding on Mother Earth, you can't jump ship.
